Winter Warmers (New York Hat Company)

Wow, the weather has suddenly turned cold and it's time to wrap up in your winter warmers.

New York Hat company is one of our favourite niche brands stocked in places such as Liberty of London, Asos, and of course afh.co

New York Hat Company has been producing hats and accessories for over 25 years. The story begins in NYC with Ackerman Cap Company, where Arnold Ackerman was introduced to the hat business at a young age. He spent many years working at his grandfather's cap factory.

With the knowledge and experience he gained, he worked his way through the industry and became the top buyer for one of the largest headwear distributors in New York, which at the time was also one of the largest in the country. During that time, the late 60s thru late 70s, there were at least 300 manufacturers in the Greenwich Village area of downtown NYC alone.

By 1982 the time was right to go out on his own. The MTV generation was taking over and music and fashion became linked in a new way. Vintage styles and retro repros were in demand. With a second storey loft and showroom on W. 27th Street, The New York Hat Co. was formed.

Great value for money hats and scarves, so check them out at afh...

MA.STRUM - A Heavyweight Brand

David Haye clearly appreciates that while those sparkly shorts may cut it in the ring, the outside world isn’t quite so forgiving.

The World Heavyweight Champion is seen here sporting MA.STRUM’s Officer Military Field Jacket, which boasts state-of-the-art features for first-class style and functionality, making it one of the hottest items in men’s fashion today.

Combining the archives of pivotal designer Massimo Osti (CP Company, Stone Island) with pioneering high-tech fabrics and designs, MA.STRUM really shows the sportswear market how outerwear should be made, with great attention to detail and a passion for fabric development and research.

Osti’s son Lorenzo obviously has a tough act to follow, and could have been forgiven for pursuing a life of fishing over fashion, but he’s stepped up to the plate and employed the vision and design skills of Donrad Duncan to brilliant effect.

The result is a range of fantastically stylish and exciting garments with embedded accessories such as underarm metal breathable grommets, which are far snazzier than they sound, and a highly collectible and historic quality to them.

David “The Hayemaker” Haye will be battling (or battering) Audley Harrison this Saturday in the first all-British World Heavyweight Title Fight in seventeen years. As a heavyweight advocate of a heavyweight brand, he’s definitely got our support!
